Description
The ameliorative potential of aqueous extract of Syzygium aromaticum (cloves) on cisplatin-induced testicular damage in male Wistar rats was investigated in this study. Serum hormonal profile, hematolgical indices, seminal fluid analysis, serum and testis oxidative stress enzymes, testis histology were investigated in treatment groups in relation to controls using standard designated methods. Aqueous extract of S. aromaticum at 2500 mg/kg bodyweight showed enhancing effect on serum hormonal profile levels, spermatogenesis and a reduction in oxidative stress caused by cisplatin in both the plasma and issue and can therefore be harnessed in the management of testicular injury.
