Description
Description
This research explores the mental health effects of the abrupt transition from Kenya’s 8-4-4 educational system to the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) on pupils and students. The shift, while aimed at enhancing skills and practical learning, has introduced challenges such as academic pressure, adaptation difficulties, and emotional stress.
The purpose of this study is to assess the psychological impact of this transition, identifying key stressors and coping mechanisms among learners. The mission is to provide empirical evidence on the mental well-being of students amid systemic changes, offering insights that can guide policymakers, educators, and mental health professionals in ensuring a smoother transition.
The study aims to highlight the challenges students face, evaluate the effectiveness of support systems in place, and propose strategies to mitigate the mental health risks associated with curriculum reforms. Ultimately, this research seeks to inform policies that prioritize students' mental well-being in the evolving educational landscape of Kenya.
